There’s nothing more uncomfortable than being suddenly hit with freezing water when you were expecting a nice, hot shower. This inconvenience is just one of the signs that you need water heater repair. Here are some things to watch out for with your water heater:
- Inconsistent temperatures: This issue might be more noticeable when taking a shower, but water coming out of the sinks or tubs can be affected by inconsistent temperatures as well. You might not even be able to get your water to reach hot temperatures, instead being stuck with nothing more than lukewarm water at best.
- Corrosion or rust: Sometimes you can tell you need to call for water heater repair just by looking at your water heater. If your usually shiny, steel tank is showing signs of rust or the water coming out of your taps has a strange tint, your water heater may be to blame.
- Water discoloration: Normally, you wouldn’t expect to turn on your water and see that the water through the faucet of the sink or tub has turned a brownish color or is mixed with black specks. This is caused by either your water heater needing to be cleaned, or because the water heater has become corroded and rusted.
- Leaks: An old or damaged water heater can start leaking. If you notice that a pool of water has started to collect around your water heater, you need to call for a professional immediately. The electrical system around the water heater is at risk to be further corroded or damaged by the leaks.
